PubMedMaker
Reference Browser & Reference Maker by FileMaker Pro

What is PubMedMaker
PubMedMaker is bibliography software, which is designed for anyone who wishes to manage med-
ical literature data with a FileMaker Pro database. You perform a search of the literature
in PubMed or NLM gateway on the Internet and save the search results as a text file. PubMed-
Maker converts this text file into a FileMaker Pro database simply by dragging & dropping.
By using FileMaker Pro's function, you can search, select, sort, and print literature refer-
ences. Literature list can be formatted and exported in simple text, rich text (Reference
list for your paper) or HTML (Reference Web Publishing) to conform to the style you desire.

What's new--PubMedMaker 2.2 for Windows (Oct 9, 2002)
1. Compatible with the change of format in PubMed--MEDLINE format in PubMed has been revised
in Sep 2002. This change causes a system error during conversion by PubMedMaker on Windows.
The error is fixed in this version.
2. Compatible with the removal of URL data in PubMed--URL data were removed in the MEDLINE
format of PubMed in Aug 2002. URL data are still included in NLM Gateway. The Input Stored
PDF Names command works normally when there are no URL data in the database.
3. Write New Journal Data button--You can write new literature data at Input page.
4. Fast reading of a text file--Reading a text file becomes 4 times faster than the older
versions.
5. Fast delete of duplicate records--Duplicate delete command becomes 9 times faster than
the older versions.
6. Addition of Author formats--Author formats for the Reference list have increased to 23
formats from 13 formats in the old versions.
7. Author names with dots have increased to 30 authors--Author names with dots have increas-
ed to 30 authors from 17 authors in the older versions. For more than 30 authors, "et al"
is shown.
8. Store and restore of Reference Setup--You can store up tp 6 sets of reference formats you
have arranged. Set 1 is used as a default for newly generated Reference database.
9. Revision of data format--MEDLINE data are imported as separate items. For example, journ-
al name, volume, issue, page, date are separately imported, and the journal field is synthe-
sized from these data. You can toggle AU (abbreviate) and FAU (full name).
10. Improvement of PDF path setting--Path data in the database are not broken when PDF files
cannot be identified. You can reset path data to database files.
11. Sending e-mail to corresponding authors-- A mailer software opens incorporating the e-
mail address of the corresponding author and data of the paper, if MEDLINE data includes the
e-mail address.
